Steve Bentley asks, "Was Captain Scott's Broadwood piano roll operated?
It appears hardly likely".
Yes! It was a standard 88-note Broadwood player piano, dis-assembled
to take it over the ice from the ship to the hut used for wintering,
and re-assembled again by Mr. Rennick. The _actual_ player piano and
also the gramophone were used in the 1948 film with John Mills in it.
I have read over 40 books and diaries from this particular expedition
and the making of the film so I know this to be correct.
