I bought the following disc playing music box at auction and cannot
locate another anywhere on the Internet. It is marked FUJI-Japan
Pat-P and is a vintage reproduction (1960-70?). It is styled to look
like a gramophone, and has a decorative 8" plastic horn which has
broken off at the base. It does not play due to a broken wire
connection that needs to be properly reconnected. It has 12 very nice
plastic discs with "Symphonic" and "Fuji Made in Japan" on their paper
labels. The outside of the box is covered in what appears to be bonded
leather, and it has a decorative crank that does nothing because the
box runs on a size D battery. There are two drawers, the top appears
to be a ring holder, and bottom holds all the discs.
The box is quite beautiful, and I am desperate to hear these lovely
discs, but because the piece is obviously not antique I do not want to
spend a lot for this minor repair. I thought I might be able to simply
buy another on-line, but I have searched for weeks and cannot find
anything remotely like this player. Can anyone out there tell me where
I might find another, or where I might take something like this for
repair?
