Hi Group, In the first posting about music rolls it was stated that
Keystone Music Roll Co. was gone. Not so! I just received the
"2005-2006 Cold Weather Catalog of Ampico Music Rolls". The last page
shows Richard Groman tending the perforator and Laura Lee and Shelby
Kennard processing rolls and orders. The catalog states the following:
"Some words about Keystone and Magic Melodies. All rolls offered
in our catalogs are produced by Keystone Music Roll Company, Inc.,
of Bethlehem PA, owned and managed by Richard Groman. Keystone
produces rolls from more than 1000 original Ampico masters, utilizing
an original Aeolian American perforator.
"Shelby and Laura Lee Kennard began a part-time business as Magic
Melodies in Alabama during the 1980s, rebuilding player and reproducing
pianos, buying rolls and selling them to their piano customers.
"Following Shelby's retirement in 1990, Shelby and Laura Lee began to
spend less of their time and efforts on rebuilding pianos, and more on
buying and selling piano rolls. Magic Melodies turned to Keystone to
produce rolls for its Magic Melodies and Top Hat logos.
"Over time a close personal and business relationship has developed
between Keystone (Richard Groman) and the Kennards. At present Shelby
and Laura Lee maintain the roll inventory and handle all sales for
Keystone from their home in Jamestown, Kentucky."
I have purchased rolls from a previous catalog and found the rolls and
the service to be excellent. This catalog offers five Ampico Christmas
rolls, from $10.00 to $15.00.
