Hi Everyone, I wanted to reply to this posting because I think
I happen to be one of the youngest people, at 25, involved in the
mechanical music world.
The key is not what music you put on a roll; it is who you market
it too. There are some teenagers out there that would not care about
mechanical music even if it was their favorite songs. The kids you
have to reach are the ones that are into classical music. I listen
to classical music daily and this is mainly from having many years
of music classes in school.
I have recently found that there is more out there then just grand
pianos and uprights. I now deal in mechanical music instruments and
I go to auction for collectors. I have great mentors that have really
opened my eyes to the world of mechanical music. This is the key:
open your collections up to kids that will enjoy them. You have to
show the youth that there is more out there then grands and uprights.
