Bob, ArtEcho did put out a test roll.  It was last re-cut about 30
years ago, so I'm sure it's time to do it again.  The original roll
had the instructions printed on the roll, but the re-cut didn't;
I think they included an instruction sheet with the re-cut.

ArtEcho put out a great shop chart that was reprinted by the Vestal
Press.  It would probably provide all the information you need to
regulate the action.
