New Valve Seats for Seeburg & Coinola Nickelodeons
By Don Teach
For some unknown reason I have been thinking of having some more
rosewood xylophone beater balls made, 7/8 inch in diameter, and
wondered how many of you would be interested in obtaining some new
balls. They cost $2.00 each with the biggest cost being the rosewood.
While I was researching the wooden balls I also asked about having
the correct size Seeburg upper valve seats made from hard maple. They
have been made in the past by several suppliers and I wanted to have
them made exactly to the same dimensions as the originals which vary
by a few thousandths of an inch. These would cost about $.50 each made
in large lots.
I also have been searching for Coinola red fibre top seats as most
of the originals are warped. I have been making them at home on a
punch press and die machine. I can have them made commercially by the
fibre company cheaper than I can make them at home. These would cost
somewhere around $.75 each to have made without the threads and $1.00
each with the 5/8-40 threads.
Since all of the above have to be made in quantities in the thousands
for a company to consider making them, then who out there in the MMD
world would like to step up to the plate and say they would be
interested in purchasing any of the three above mentioned items.
Player Piano Co. no longer produces any of the above. Surely I can't
be the only one that needs these parts. Coinola valve seats are the
same as the Reproduco since they were the same company.

P.S.: And by the way I still have some O rolls to sell and I am looking
for some original O rolls to copy.
