Michael, I don't have any discs to spare, but you might want to
contact Barry Johnson in Menlo Park, California, tel.: 1-650-323-5268.
It is rumored that he has a few reproduction chime discs in his
inventory now, though I haven't ever seen any.
Barry's discs in general are superb in quality, and you're unlikely to
_ever_ find another original chime clock disc, as only a few dozen of
these clocks were originally produced by Seth Thomas. Yours is the
most common, the dark oak arts-and-crafts Style 81, of which I recall
about 50 or 60 were made, mostly during the 1910-20 period. A few of
these chime mechanisms went into special-order cases of the more
traditional GF clock styles with which you may be familiar.
I co-wrote a story on the chime clock for the Musical Box Society's
25th Anniversary book, now out of print, but you can probably get it
from the archives at their web site.
If I every get around to it, I am planning to commission Barry to cut
a half-dozen more duplicates of my two original discs and those of one
or two other owners. We would send in our discs and get back one each
of the duplicates, sharing the costs among us. Interested?
