Speaking as a curator of a small museum, we gladly accept donations
of rolls to our collection. Every year nearly one million people
who visit the New York State Fair enjoys our museum. Visitors are
encouraged to pick a roll they would like to hear and have the
opportunity to pump the piano themselves. The popular tunes that
the average adult or child recognizes such as "Over The Rainbow"
and "Puff The Magic Dragon" are played so much that we often have
to replace them because of the wear on them.
We have been forced to ask for donations to purchase new rolls from
QRS, to keep our "most asked for favorite tunes" available. For
a non-profit museum, purchasing rolls can become very expensive. We
strongly feel that our type of hands-on museum is one way to introduce
new generations to the wonder of mechanical music, and preserve our
mechanical music past. After all, isn't that what we would all like
to do?
My real point is: Please, please, please, we would love to add your
popular music rolls to our museum, because they _will_ be heard and
enjoyed! Museum web site: http://www.jrjunction.com/estmim.htm
