Don't Donate Your Collection - Sell It
By Bruce Grimes
In my personal opinion, putting piano rolls in a museum is about like
putting a body in a concrete box: it is not only a way that we try to
deny our own demise, it takes vital elements out of circulation.
I will combine the best of Marxist and capitalist thinking; I will
have them all redistributed to the masses; I will have them all sold
-- so all 3,000 rolls can be regrouped into other collections to bring
the same joy to others they have brought to me.
I'd rather be forgotten and have the music play on than to be
remembered because I had it embalmed.
