Player Piano Motor Won't Start
By Al Menashe

We recently moved, now the motor on the Coinola X is stalling.
I don't know what got messed up, if anything, but when the motor
starts it just hums until I give it a shove, and then it takes off.
It stalls every time it starts up.

Do I need to rebuild the motor? Need advice.

Al Menashe

[ The starting circuit has failed, which could be due to a broken
[ wire or a crystallized solder connection or a bad starting switch
[ contact. Or <horrors> the start winding has failed and must be
[ rewound. Disassemble the motor for inspection, or take it to an
 [ old-time motor repair shop. -- Robbie
