Mr. Reblitz' piano book mentions that Steinway once used a Teflon or
Nylon bushing in its piano actions. It seems like a fine idea, but
it turned out that while the wood around the plastic insert shrinks
and swells with changes in humidity, the insert does not. This causes
difficulties like cracks.
