MMDers, I have embarked on a fairly long-term project of where
necessary repairing, reboxing and relabeling my collection of over
4000 piano rolls. The bottleneck in this process is the testing,
which necessitates carrying the rolls from my shop to the house to
be played on one of my players. If the roll still has some problem
the process must be repeated.
So what I'm looking for is a spinet player, one of those that came out
in the 1970's, that functions, i.e., it plays and is fairly inexpensive.
Ideally this piano needs to be located within a couple hundred miles of
Columbia, Missouri, so that I can haul it myself.
On the relabeling portion of this project I cannot compliment John
Miller enough for his roll box labeling program. I have a lady using
his program and in 3-4 hours she can make 25-30 labels. She puts one
on each end of the box and a spare goes inside the box. The
improvement in appearance is dramatic!
I'm still looking for preferably a complete set of the Billings
Rollographies. QRS supposedly purchased the remaining copies from the
Billings but they do not have them listed on their web site and they
are not responding to my email. These rollographies are needed to fill
in missing pieces of information on box labels. Any help along these
lines would be appreciated.
Thanks, Tom Hutchinson
