Wurlitzer Tracker Bar Construction
By Tony Marsico

A few weeks ago someone was asking how the Wurlitzer tracker bars are
made. Here is a photo of a display piece made by Steve Lanick to show
how the bars are made. You can see where the nipples are soldered into
the back of the bar and go through the back of the pre-drilled piece.
They are soldered and then cut off. The sides of the bar are then put
on and the little angles that allow the bar to be tightened up against
the wooden piece with thumb screws are then soldered on.

Unfortunately, Steve is not making the excellent bars he made at one
time, or doing any restoration any more, as he had a stroke. I'd like
to see a jig of how the holes were accurately spaced and drilled in the
face of the bar. My understanding is that after the bar was drilled
with round holes, Steve would broach them out square, as the originals
were.
