In this world of new and fast, finding something old can be a problem.
Every sales person I approach in my quest almost laughs at how "out
of date" my equipment is. They soon follow with the standard phrase,
"Time to upgrade, bro." Perhaps readers of MMD will be a bit more
understanding.
My need is for an MIDI interface that will plug into an old MAC
computer. Specially, it has to plug into the old serial (round) modem
port. I have one of those devices now, but as I am setting up a second
work station, I need a second interface. If anyone has a good,
serviceable interface that they are willing to sell, please contact me.
The two old computers that I have dedicated to this MIDI work have no
problems running my "old" program. I can't think of any reason not to
use these computers -- the editing tasks would be the same on something
new, and the speed is no different. One salesman, who has a recent
degree in EE, didn't even know what a modem port was.

[ I had one many years ago. The unique feature is that the external
[ unit also generates the special clock frequency needed to run the
[ Mac's built-in modem at the proper MIDI clock rate. -- Robbie
