Let me introduce myself. My name is Al Mamer, and I live in South St.
Paul, Minnesota. My hobby is the restoration of player pianos. I have
been doing this for over 35 years, and have done on average about one
piano a year. This is strictly a hobby, and I only restore pianos that
friends and customers contract for restoration. John Tuttle (Player-Care,
Brick, NJ) recommended that I contact you, since he felt your readers
may be able to help me with a piano I am restoring.
I recently acquired a (Baldwin) Modello Player Piano. The condition
has to be one of the worst you would ever want to see, but I have all
sorts of patience and time, so this instrument will be back to factory
new condition soon.
There is one part that is missing, and I know I cannot faithfully
reproduce it, and that part is the "compound floating triangle" in the
tracker mechanism. Both right and left tracking levers and control
valve are present. Why someone would take out the triangle and toss it
is beyond my imagination. I was wondering if any of you may have one
they would be willing to sell.
Thank you for your help.
