Band Organ at B&B Carousel, Coney Island
By Vincent Morgan
For information on the band organ on the B&B Carousell in Coney Island
contact Keith Bigger at <k_bigger@yahoo.com>. He knows the grandson of
the man who took care of the organ and who converted it from book music
to rolls. The same man punched many of the rolls that are currently
with the organ. Together they can give you probably more information
than you may wish to know.
The B&B carousel and band organ are going on the auction block on
August 15th. There is a large outcry of people attempting to save
it intact. It is the last of 25 carousels at Coney Island, the place
where many of the historic carousels in the US were made. Now, most of
the carousel factory buildings are used furniture stores with Russian
signs above them.
