Seek Recordings of VB Scale Fairground Organs
By Roger Wiegand

I wonder if any of you might have recordings of 89+ key VB
[Violin-Baritone] scale Gavioli or Marenghi organs that are in
a relatively un-muddled state (the organ, that is) that you might
be willing to share?

I've asked around a lot and so far am not aware of commercial
recordings of decent sound quality of organs that are relatively
true to their original forms. Lots of Gavioli G4 scale organs, but
no VB scale. I'd be happy to buy any commercially available records
that exist, but I think I need to hunt for private recordings.

I found on eBay a 1960's vintage British LP of an unidentified "Mighty
Marenghi", but the sound quality is so bad it is hard to tell that it
is a fairground organ, much less details of the sound. A recording,
for example, of the Anderton and Rowland 98 Marenghi would be wonderful
to have.

This is a bit of a research project. I'm trying to educate my ear
to hear the differences that result from the alternate registration,
also to understand how various modified organs have changed from their
presumed primordial sounds. So if you have MP3s, transcriptions of
tapes or minidiscs, or any other form of recording of identified organs
that you would be willing to share (I won't do anything with them other
than listen without the owner's permission) please let me know
<roger@band-organ.com.geentroep>. Thanks for your help.

Cheers,
