Hot Hide Glue Additive To Prevent Brittleness?
By Todd Augsburger

An acquaintance asked me about the use of hot hide glue for bellows
cloth in climates which are extremely dry for extended periods, such as
his location in the mountains of Arizona. His experience is that the
glue can become brittle and pull loose in this extreme climate.

Both of us are rather traditional in our approach, but are there
suitable additives for hide glue which have been shown to keep the glue
from becoming brittle?

Thanks,
Todd Augsburger
