Stephen Small requested help for his Ampico B rewind problem. In his
post there is not sufficient information to make a response that is
certain to be correct, but I will offer this anyway.
On top of the electric drive motor is a pallet valve that closes as the
flat spot in the cam rotates under the pallet. When closed, the rewind
brake engages and completely stops the roll in rewind. This action is
used to tighten the roll.
If the pallet is out of adjustment, it might be closed at all times,
resulting in the brake being applied at all times. To correct that
problem, the mounting screws for the pallet can be loosened and the
valve moved so that it is open. The pallet should close only when the
cam flat occurs.
