Dear MMDians,
I am happy to report that after my last visit to see Ms. Jeanne Malone
of Play-Rite, she appeared to be doing much better. After having taken
a bad fall, she broke a rib as well as her left forearm, and already
those injuries have healed over quite well. And now it seems that the
challenges ahead are somewhat psychological for her. After something of
a sabbatical, Ms. Malone is having to remember how on earth she got so
much done in the course of a single day.
My experience in recording the Malone Wurlitzer 165 upon my last visit
had similar psychological challenges for me. I spent the whole day
there, and after I got everything up and running, I had only enough time
to record music for one album. I asked myself, "At age 18 how could I
have been so much more productive and efficient than I am now?" I feel
humbled by my former self.
Anyway, I just wanted to give everyone a quick update on the situation
in Turlock, Calif. John Malone's Wurlitzer 165 sounds better than ever,
and John himself is taking after his mom, using every hour of the day to
the fullest.
Marc Elbasani
P.S. I am sending images from this Malone visit in a separate email for
posting as you see fit.
