I'm mentoring the restoration of a Cable 88-note player piano by a local
museum, a project which was inspired by the success of the Farrand
player restoration in our own museum. The designated restorer is
mechanically competent, enthusiastic, and willing to learn. So far all
is going well.
However, in the course of disassembling the stack, a couple of the
Bakelite upper valve seats disintegrated. Does any one have these parts
available from a salvaged Cable stack? The restorer will, if necessary,
machine metal replacements on his lathe, but he would prefer to stay
with original parts, if possible.
