I have been asked by a friend to sell one of his prized musical
machines, an Imhof & Mukle "Badenia 2" orchestrion.
This wonderful machine is described in the "Encyclopedia Of Automatic
Musical Instruments," by Q. David Bowers, on p. 467, with a photo of it
on p. 471, lower left. The Badenia 2 piano orchestrion features
xylophone and bell solo arrangements.
The Badenia 2 was made in several case styles. This one, serial no.
4556, has a custom cabinet, with side cabinets, a wonder light on top,
and three motion picture scenes. Measurements are H. 10' x W. 7' 6" x
D. 37".
Its instrumentation consists of piano, xylophone, bells, and percussion
effects. Imhof & Mukle instruments utilized heavy paper (cardboard),
multi-tune rolls, tough enough to withstand the contact pressure of the
spring-loaded brass keys in the key frame. These rolls play on Herold,
Badenia, Corso, Reclame, Lord, and Tribute orchestrions. Approximately
28 multi-tune rolls come with the orchestrion, including a test roll.
Priced at $120,000 US.
