Conlon Nancarrow "13 Studies for Player Piano"
By Juergen Hocker

Hi to all Nancarrow fans: The 13 Studies for Player Piano at the
Ojai Festival from 9 to 12 June are not played by a player piano
but by the fabulous Bugallo/Williams piano duo -- that means these
are transcriptions for two pianos.

In Europe there are many concerts with Nancarrow's player piano
studies played by original player pianos. I performed these studies
all over Europe with my Ampico Bösendorfer grand, and the studies for
two player pianos with a synchronized Ampico Fischer grand.

In the last years we had concerts in attendance with Conlon Nancarrow
-- that means before his death in 1997 -- in Cologne, Hamburg, Berlin,
Hannover, Vienna, Amsterdam, Vienna and Paris. And later on I performed
Nancarrow's music in London, Aldebourgh, Brussels, Warschau, Den Haag,
Strassbourg, Munich, Stockholm and twice in Donaueschingen and ...,
altogether nearly 100 concerts with Nancarrow's music -- and the
audience was always enthusiastic.
