After reading Tom Hutchinson's post seeking an Ampico spinet, it is
clear that the exact description of these little pianos is once again
necessary. The Ampico Spinet is an Ampico "A" lacking duel crescendo
devices.
It has stack valves unique to the spinet. They are a small, single
unit valves that have _no_ ball bleed, and are smaller (internally)
than any other Ampico "A" unit valves. The roll transport mechanism
components resemble the upright piano Ampico "A". It is contained
in a tray similar to the Ampico "top loader".
The expression mechanism is a stripped down Ampico "A" style. There
is no provision for a "Modify" mechanism, nor is there any manual
expression control. A single crescendo mechanism is attached to _both_
the treble and bass step regulators. The small pump has no amplifier
nor reservoir.
They are neat little pianos that sound great for the size. Usually,
the only "B" component in the entire instrument is the valve for the
soft pedal.
