Musical Box Controls Marked Z & V
By Luuk Goldhoorn
I have a music box in a desk clock, most probably made in Eastern
Europe in the beginning of the 19th century. On the bottom of
the plate which holds the music box are two handles. One handle
is to play or to stop. That one is marked with an arrow and a 'Z'.
The other handle, to change the melodies, is marked with a 'V'
between two arrows.
Z and V are not abbreviations in German, French or English, nor even
in Dutch. Is there anyone who can tell me which language has been
used?
Thanks
