Back in early 'fifties I lived in Willow Run, Michigan, which is about
10 or twelve miles from Plymouth, Michigan. I used to know some of the
employees of the Daisy Air Rifle Co., in Plymouth. That would have
been about 1954 or possibly a year or two earlier.
Anyway, when the "brains" at Daisy decided to move their air rifle
operation from Plymouth to Tennessee, some of the employees didn't want
to leave Michigan. Some of these were engineers. Somehow or other,
a group of these former employees of Daisy decided to form their own
business and produce pneumatic piano players. As far as I remember
they used some of the same facilities that Daisy had used there in
Plymouth.
While in operation they produced a fairly good product but it seems
there wasn't enough market to sustain their operation so they folded,
too. I don't know exactly how many of the Dynavoice people there were
or how long they stayed in business but it wasn't very long,
Over the years I've owned five or six of the units and they were all
readily serviceable and could be made to perform "as advertised."
I believe I still have one in my shop that I didn't use because the
spacing of the Dynavoice didn't fit the Steinway piano that I had.
That problem was because of the Steinway, not the Dynavoice.
