Hi All, With all the thousands of old music rolls being pulled out of
attics and basements these days, it's not surprising that their value
seems to be 'next to nothing'. Adding to the problem, it's very hard
to find people who are willing to spend their time helping other people
who hate to see 'grandmas rolls' end up in the dumps. But, that's
where most of them end up -- until today.
Having obviously tried to find a home for some old rolls, and
apparently getting a little frustrated, one woman wrote and said,
"I have been so tempted to wallpaper a bathroom with torn or tattered
rolls. I figured it would supply _great_ and varied reading material."
Since I had never heard of the idea, I wrote back and mentioned that
I would present the idea to the MMDigest. She replied,
"Besides wallpaper, it can be made into lampshades -- imagine the
illumination through the holes. Also you can hang crystals from
the hooks for the shades and pictures from the wallpapered walls.
A Shoji screen would also be cute: Japanese paper screen serving as
as a wall partition. I could go on and on, obviously! Don't forget
to line the inside of old steamer-trunks. I have a plethora of
ideas, want any others or me to just get busy?"
Hey, if nothing else, it's good for a laugh... Got any interesting
ideas for old rolls?
Musically,
John A Tuttle
