A very big "Thanks!" to the MMD and its authors. It was just the day
before yesterday that a friend of mine called me, extremely excited.
He had lost the bid on a Regina that he wanted, but the buyer had
backed down, leaving him as the second chance bidder offer. This much
seemed reasonable, but the next thing that he heard was that as a
special incentive, the seller would ship it to him on his account.
Shipping a Regina in the US is expensive, but shipping to Israel is
a few hundred dollars. He was going to send them a check, but they
asked him to mail it to a friend of theirs -- they owed her money, etc.
Now he started to get a little suspicious; he wrote to the seller and
asked about it. They said it was okay, explained the situation, and my
friend was satisfied. That was yesterday. I then opened the MMD and
saw that there are a lot of eBay scams on "second chance" offers and he
decided to check it out by writing to the seller.
Of course the seller recognized this scam and immediately wrote back
to me stating it was a fraud and not to pay. I convinced him and saved
him almost $4000.
Thanks again!
