Piano Roll Dreams
By John Phillips

Hello MMD. Years ago, when I was in the early stages of player piano
enthusiasm, and would ear-bash people mercilessly at parties about
them, I dreamt I was in a junk shop in Japan. There on a shelf were
two Japanese player rolls.

What was particularly striking about them was their boxes. They were
like British Imperial boxes, with a flip-open lid, but they were made
of shiny brown leather. Each box was equipped with a pair of leather
straps and buckles for secure closure. I don't recall anything about
the rolls but I remember the boxes with affection from time to time.

John Phillips in Hobart, Tasmania.
