Good morning MMD-ers. Just to let everyone know who might be
travelling to Australia later in 2005 that the Australian Mechanical
Organ Society will be holding its annual rally, in conjunction with
an historical machinery festival at Bombala in the state of New South
Wales, Friday 11th November 2005 to Sunday 13th November 2005.
The AMOS rallies generally attract around 20 to 30 organs of all
sizes and ages. The company is as varied as the organs with owners
coming from several states of Australia and sometimes overseas. We
start with a barbeque on the Friday evening, play organs on Saturday,
hold the AMOS Annual General Meeting and a dinner on the Saturday
night and play organs on the Sunday.
The delightful town of Bombala is on the southern edge of the Monaro,
an elevated undulating plain within sight of the snow-capped Snowy
Mountains. The air is clear and cool in Bombala! The town's river
hosts a large population of platypus so if you're wildlife-inclined
as well, get up at 4 A.M. (it's light then) and enjoy the sight of
wild platypus feeding in the middle of the town.
