Greetings, I also have a couple of ittyMIDI players that I bought to
try on my e-valve pianos. They work quite well but there are a few
shortcomings. The display is limited and the ability to make playlists
is limited also. These are not problems with the software, which is
really well thought out, but more of a problem with the Palm display.
To make the system a little more useful for playing e-rolls, I wrote
a couple of programs to modify the MIDI files and also to create books
to be used as playlists. For those who are using e-rolls that contain
keywords (or track names that contain useful information) that display
in the e-roll player program written by Gene Gerety, it is possible to
create playlists in the player program and use a program that I wrote
to copy the files in the playlist to a folder from which a book can be
made for the ittyMIDI.
The program also renames the files as the first track name found.
It takes out characters that are not allowed in windows filenames and
will truncate the names to a length specified. ittyMIDI only displays
12 characters. Since ittyMIDI sorts books alphabetically there is an
option to number the songs so they do not change from the order of the
original playlist. As complicated as it sounds, it is really simple to
use. Another program just renames the files as the track name so you
can see a name displayed in the player in case the filename is not
meaningful.
If anyone has a use for these programs, contact me and I'll post them
on my web site.
