Hello everyone, I have just acquired a complete Duo-Art player system
which had been removed from a small Aeolian grand, so small that
there was no room for a standard Aeolian pump. Instead it has a small
turbine unit. I have not been able to find any reference to this pump
in the archives.
The main body of the pump is a heavy casting 6.5" x 6.5" x 8".
Including nipples, the overall height is 12". Two plates on opposite
sides informs me (i) that it was manufactured by the Arielle Mfg. Co.
of Phila. U.S.A, 110 volts, serial number 1290(?), and (ii) it is an
Arielle Piano Motor, Patented Dec. 11, 1923.
When I fired it up initially it produced a pathetic 12 inches of water
lift. However, close examination revealed that it had been previously
assembled incorrectly. It now produces between 32 and 35 inches of
water lift which is probably enough to run a Duo-Art system. It is
nice and quiet.
Has anyone come across one of these turbines? If so, what are your
experiences in its use?
Regards
