Seek "G" Roll "Hello, Dolly!" for Mardi Gras Parade
By Larry Kern

-- non-subscriber, please reply to sender and MMD --

An urgent request has just surfaced with only a short time remaining
to obtain the resolve.

Mike Hanchett, owner of Mike's Mechanical Music in Newton, Kansas, has
been selected to operate a newly acquired and specially built calliope
that plays "G" rolls for the 2005 Mardi Gras "Krewe Of Orpheus Parade"
in New Orleans. The parade is on February 7, 2005, and Mike will be
leaving Newton to travel to New Orleans on February 3, 2005.

Mike had arranged to personally carry with him "G" roll #2500, a four
tune roll that includes the tune "Hello, Dolly!" The roll is originally
a Dave Miner roll and, although Dave has the master, no copies are
currently available.

This roll is considered critical to the planners of the event in New
Orleans because the City and Krewe Of Orpheus just released nationally
the purchase of the original double-decker horse-drawn trolley car that
was actually used in the famous movie, "Hello, Dolly!", starring Barbra
Streisand.

To Mike's great dismay, it has been learned that the loan of that roll
is no longer possible from the planned source. The parade planners and
Mike are therefore devastated with this bad news. The calliope was
built as part of this attraction for the parade and was to specifically
play the song "Hello, Dolly!"

MMD'ers, I just know that you can come to the rescue even though such
a short time remains! Mike is a very reliable person who can be fully
trusted to care for the roll if loaned. If someone has the roll for
sale that would even be better for the City of New Orleans. But
please, can you help Mike, the Krewe of Orpheus and the City of
New Orleans?

Hundreds of thousands of people from all over the world will be at this
major event. More details can be seen at http://www.kreweoforpheus.net/
Also on this official web site, you can learn more details about the
parade and the new calliope.

Mike is temporarily not available on line. Please call him by phone at
(316) 283-7735. I will monitor the responses on the MMD and personally
see that he also gets all information posted.
