Carbon Brushes for Motor Starting Switch
By Craig Smith

Albert de Boer is looking for new carbon brushes for his Holtzer-Cabot
motor. It has been some years since I looked inside one of these
motors so I don't remember what the parts look like. But, if they are
carbon, you should be able to buy some carbon brushes for another motor
and shape them to fit rather easily. I have done this in other
applications. In fact, I think I once used the center rod from a size
"D" flashlight cell; probably not a good idea.

Regards,
Craig Smith, Upstate New York, where with the wind chill it was more
than 20 below zero a couple nights ago (and 20 inches of snow).
