Hello all! In a large lot of Ampico rolls I recently acquired,
I discovered a roll that bore across its leader a handwritten
message of a surprisingly personal nature signed by the artist,
Edgar Fairchild, to one of his female fans. I was curious to
know if other roll collectors have made similar discoveries.
Were roll signings once a commonplace event as are book signings
today? Of many hundreds of rolls in our collection, this is the
only one I know to have an actual artist inscription.
