Mel Garcia asks about books on repairing a barrel piano. The nearest
I know of are those by Arthur Ord-Hume. His latest book, "Automatic
Pianos," is the most comprehensive and has only recently been published,
but it is quite expensive. A supplier in the UK is Kevin McElhone
<kevin_mcelhone@hotmail.com> who, I am sure, will supply a price.
A possibly cheaper alternative is Arthur's earlier book, "Player-Piano",
published in 1970 by George Allen & Unwin, ISBN 0047890037. It might
be possible to pick up a second-hand copy through the various Internet
book sellers.
Both books have a section on barrel pianos which should be useful for
restoring most makes. I don't know of any other books with substantial
information on these instruments.
