Betreff: searching for automatic instruments recordings
Paris, 07/01/2005
Dear Sir, dear Madam,
I am a harpsichordist diplomate from the Lyon National Conservatory
of Music and nowadays a student in thorough-bass practice by Jesper
Christensen in the Schola Cantorum of Basel.
This year, I am finishing in Lyon the studies in music pedagogy that
will allow me to postular to teach in French public conservatories
and schools of music. To validate these studies, I must present
a dissertation connecting musicological and pedagogic aspects of one
subject. I am thus engaged in a research about ancient mechanical
instruments.
My goal is to collect a maximum of 16th, 17th, 18th and beginning
of 19th century mechanical instrument records and, by the use of an
analytical process, identify and understand some performance practices
in use at these diverse periods, mainly concerning ornamentations,
tempo, articulation and rubato, suitable to be used with pedagogic
purposes.
I have already contacted many different institutions, but could obtain
only 3 recordings. So, I kindly ask you to let me know about records,
articles, books or any other kind of information that could improve my
research.
Awaiting your answer, I thank you in advance for your attention.
Yours faithfully,
Marie Labrousse
