Hi Mary, Welcome to the wonderful world of the Aeolian Grand and
Aeolian Orchestrelle player reed organs [041205 MMDigest]. I bet
you enjoy listening to it? I have an Aeolian Orchestrelle and
I just love the music.
I think they are a wonderful mechanical musical instrument that is
sadly overlooked. The music is fantastic and each time you play a
roll, you can play it differently with the various stops. Much more
musical than any player piano ever was. Too bad that more people have
not tried them and enjoy them. Collectors for some reason have
neglected them. I guess it may be that they are a lot of work to
restore?
Anyway, for rolls, the Mechanical Music Digest is a great place to
start your search. You have just found someone who, in addition to
enjoying his own Orchestrelle has a vast collection and also operates a
music roll auction, and I just happen to auction Aeolian Grand 58-note
reed/pipe organ rolls and also the 116-note reed or pipe organ rolls.
You may visit my web site at http://home.earthlink.net/~rollertunes
When you get to the main page select "the auction"; then, on the left
side of the page, select "Organ rolls". I just finished my main
October auction but there is still one 58-note Aeolian grand roll
left. I will have more in future auctions. Thanks for looking.
Tell us more about restoring your Aeolian Grand!
