Player Piano Failed After Moving
By Joan Deegan

-- non-subscriber, please reply to sender and MMD --

I have a 1923 Autopiano, recently professionally moved from Michigan to
a second home in St. George, Utah. Upon arrival, we find that rolls
will reverse, but not advance. We want to pursue a settlement from the
insurance company and have to find some way to get a repair estimate
(in this out of the way place.) Do you have any suggestions?

Sincerely,

Joan Deegan

[ I imagine that experienced household movers are somewhat
[ apprehensive about movement of complex mechanical items, especially
[ antiques, since the chances are great that a mechanism somewhere
[ inside will be loosened during the shipment. The moving firm, or
[ their insurance agent, is likely to take the position that the
[ problem or its cause was pre-existing... -- Robbie
