Harvey and Marion Roehl sold the remaining inventory of many Vestal
Press technical reprints and manuals to Durrell Armstrong at Player
Piano Company, and many are still available there. Also, check with
John Tuttle at Player Care for reprints.
The Roehls sold the Vestal Press name and the rights to certain books
to National Book Network, which still owns and uses the Vestal Press
name and logo. My books "Piano Servicing, Tuning and Rebuilding" and
"Player Piano Servicing and Rebuilding" are published by N.B.N., and
available at retail through Amazon.com, BN.com, all bookstores (if
not in stock, they can be ordered), Schaff Piano Supply, Louis Renner
in Germany, other wholesale piano supply companies, Player Piano Co.,
John Tuttle and other sources. N.B.N. might also still publish a few
other Vestal Press non-music-related books too.
Copyright, publishing rights and printing materials for "Treasures of
Mechanical Music" (Reblitz & Bowers) and "The Mills Violano" (Kitner &
Reblitz) also went from the Roehls to N.B.N. My publishing agreements
say the rights revert to me if the books are left out of print for
a certain length of time. I now co-own the rights to these two books
(with Dave Bowers and the Kitner estate) and control publication in
all forms.
If someone considers reprinting any other copyrighted Vestal Press
books, find out whether N.B.N., the author, or someone else now owns
the copyright before proceeding. If other publishing agreements are
similar to mine, Dave Bowers or N.B.N. probably still own the rights
to "Put Another Nickel In", "The Guidebook of Automatic Musical
Instruments", "Nickelodeon Theatres and Their Music" and his other
Vestal Press publications, and either N.B.N. or the Roehl estate own
the rights to "Player Piano Treasury," "Keys to a Musical Past," and
Harvey's other works.
