Wilcox & White "Pneumatic Symphony" Player Organ
By Tom Hutchinson
At the end of 041029 MMDigest a link was given to an eBay site for a
Wilcox-White reed organ. An attempt to contact the seller to determine
what type of rolls this organ uses has resulted in no response. I have
exhausted everything three different books have to say about this make
of reed organ but not one of them even mentions the type or size of the
roll.
Are the rolls for this organ used exclusively for this make or are they
interchangeable with other makes? Are the rolls for this organ even
available say a limited basis? Since this auction ends on the evening
of 31 October, responses from this query would not get back to me in
time to help.
I am interested in this organ but am hesitant to bid if rolls are going
to be difficult to obtain. Any opinions on this make of organ would be
appreciated.
If anyone has information about the above questions I would appreciate
hearing from them at <hutweb@tranquility.net>
Thanks,
Tom Hutchinson

[ "Wilcox & White 'Pneumatic Symphony' rolls are 44-note rolls. They
[ are quite similar to the Aeolian 46ers except, of course, the bottom

[ as Aeolian and are spaced the same.
[
[ With a little fiddling (which includes reversing the spooling and

[ rolls suggests they might have been produced by the same factory."

[ Richard Vance supplied a description of Aeolian 46-note organ rolls
[ at http://mmd.foxtail.com/MMMedia/identifying.html He said the
[ 46-note Aeolian roll is 9-5/8 inches wide and the channel spacing
[ is 5 holes per inch. -- Robbie
