Band Organ Music Site "Virtual Wurlitzer 165"
By Matthew Caulfield

I was just alerted by its owner, Rich Poor, to the existence of an
excellent band organ web site that could be regarded as an adjunct
to my Wurlitzer 165 rolls web site [http://wurlitzer-rolls.com/].

Rich Poor is a San Diego musician, and his site
(http://infamousstudios.tripod.com) is titled "Master Perforator's
Virtual Wurlitzer 165, featuring The Lost Songs." On it he presents
his arrangements in MP3 format of thirteen of the tunes from lost
Wurlitzer 165 rolls.

Mr. Poor has done a superb job of emulating the timbres and voices of
a Wurlitzer 165 band organ by sound sampling from actual band organ.
He also seems to be a very gifted arranger. His arrangements of Luigi
Arditi's waltz, "Il Bacio (The Kiss)", and of E.T. Paull's "Battle Of
The Nations", show real talent.

The web site is cleverly done and shows that this musician also has
a sense of humor. He is hoping to put his love of arranging for band
organ to profitable use. Take a look for yourself.

[ The MP3 file of "Il Bacio" is 1.8 Mb size (it plays for 4 minutes)
[ and it takes at least 7 minutes to download with a dial-up modem.
