Lubricants - Marvel Mystery Oil
By Spencer Chase

Greetings MMD, Marvel 'Mystery Oil' has been around forever and has
many uses. Synthetic oils made now are probably superior but Marvel
smells better. I would guess that the formula for Marvel has changed
over the years. It would not surprise me if it was made with sperm oil
at one point; now it may be synthetic. Any historical information on
this?

I remember hearing that, for a time, automatic transmission fluid
manufacture was the major consumer of sperm oil. Any truth to this?

Best regards,
Spencer Chase
