Dear Allison Banks, I store all of my own musical box discs upright,
as this means there is no pressure on weak zinc projections on discs at
the bottom of a large pile. It also means that any disc can be removed
from the shelf, cupboard or storage bin, without disturbing any others.
Whether storing un-protected or in storage bags, I would always store
discs in pairs, with the projections facing each other, and withdraw
discs from the shelf as a pair thereby ensuring that there is no
projection damage to adjacent discs or, indeed, no scratching off of
titles on the face of the disc if they were all stored the same way
round and singly.
I keep my discs in heavy duty plastic (all other sizes) or vinyl
(12-inch L.P. size only) storage bags. If you put a piece of card in
the bag, cut to maximum size then two discs can be stored in one bag,
saving space and money.
I supply bags in the following approximate sizes and prices (reductions
for bulk orders):
11-1/2" =L= 0.80
12" =L= 0.90
15-1/2" =L= 1.00
20" =L= 1.50
Please contact me for list of shipping options.
Sincerely,
Kevin McElhone,
Northampton, England
