Passing of Ben Lilien
By Michael Woolf

Being away from New Zealand, visiting family in Australia for a few
days, I was saddened to hear of the death of Los Angeles collector
Ben Lilien. Ben and his dear wife, Mary, were for many years senior
members in mechanical music circles. I enjoyed their hospitality
and company on many visits to the U.S. Although Ben's health had
slowed them up somewhat in recent times, I was happy to see them in
May of this year.

Ben was a kindly character whose direct manner did not intimidate
in the slightest. Only just behind that sometimes gruff facade was
a fun-loving, generous and warm human being. I miss him already.
Please let your thoughts be with his beloved Mary.
