[ Re 040829 MMDigest, R.M.B. Company & Regina Music Box Factory ]
Dear Lorne, "R.M.B." are the initials of Ruth M. Bornand, the wife and
successor of Adriene Bornand, both of whom were founding members of the
Musical Box Society (now Musical Box Society International) in 1949.
They operated the Adriene Bornand Music Box Company out of their home
in Pelham, Westchester County, New York. Many times Ruth would affix
her signature, "R. Bornand", and a paper label, with Bornand Music Box
Co. and the address and phone number, to the disks she sold.
I have a number of these in my Regina disc collection. Whenever I see
one as I am playing my 15-1/2" oak short bedplate serpentine case box
that I bought from Ruth, I think fondly of her. Whenever I saw her she
reminded me that box was the last one John Bishop worked on for her.
But I digress :-)
Ruth was a marvelous lady who was graced with a long, active and
fulfilled life. I was fortunate to have been a friend and customer of
hers. I would always stop in to see her whenever I found myself in the
Pelham area. Thank you for the opportunity to reminisce,
