Hello Everyone, I've been overwhelmed with the first few hours
responses to Ray Siou's band organ CDs. I'm glad so many people are
interested in hearing this great old machine. I should be able to
mail the first batch out by the end of the week. I'll try to include
everyone who orders by Wednesday in the end of the week mailing.
I must apologize for leaving out my PayPal address. Please use

To clarify, I'm making three CDs available, all for the price of
$10.00, which includes mailing within the USA. Five dollars from each
sale will be contributed to MMD for making this possible. There are
30 different tunes in all, taken from three 10 tune rolls. Each of the
first three CDs contain the music from one complete roll, which totals
about 30 minutes for each CD. The fourth CD (for $2.00 more) contains
the first 25 tunes from the other CDs. It's almost 80 minutes long,
and is nice to have if you don't have a CD changer and want to listen
to an hour and twenty minutes of uninterrupted music.
The overall quality of this recording is pretty good, considering the
small room the band organ was located in. However, there are some
dropouts in the original tape that show up on the CDs as well.
After being stored in my shop for the past 26 years under less than
favorable conditions, I'm surprised that it still plays at all! After
a close examination of the tape tonight, I discovered that it is
starting to shed its oxide layer in a few places along the edge. This
produces a few places on the recording that causes one channel to have
some dropouts in sound, but most of the tunes appear to be completely
intact.
I wanted to make this clear so you would not think the CD is faulty,
but more important, I wanted to let everyone know to expect some minor
defects in some of the recordings. They are not all that bad, as
I hardly noticed until I started to listen more critically during
burning the CDs.
The CDs should play with no problem on most recent CD players, and any
computer with a CD or DVD drive and audio card. However, being a CD-R
format, some portable players and some very old CD players may have
trouble reading the information on them. All CDs I send will be on new
first rate Sony high speed CDs, and should play in almost any modern CD
or DVD player. I'll always buy them back if they don't work for you.
Your satisfaction is guaranteed, or I'll refund your payment. However,
you may have to arm wrestle Jody if you want your contribution to MMD
back. :)
I've had a kind offer from Matthew Caulfield to identify the tunes on
these three rolls. I am going to overnight the CDs to him so he can
supply me with a list of the tunes on each roll. It's my intention
to include this list with the CDs and to print the list on each CD.
Hopefully, I can have this done by Friday so I can mail all orders
placed this week with that information.
Several folks have asked about pictures of the band organ. I only have
about four that are worth seeing, one of which is a full front view of
the instrument. Also a couple of pix of moving day when we arrived at
Ray Siou's house. They will be placed in the MMD Pictures gallery
[ http://mmd.foxtail.com/Pictures ].
Thanks to everyone for your interest in hearing the band organ, and
especially for your contributions to MMD. I've just made a PayPal
payment to this Digest in the names of the buyers today.
Best Regards from Texas,
