Hello to All, As I mentioned in an earlier posting, I recorded three
complete 10-song rolls from the MSI/Ray Siou "church-pipe band organ",
but I have no idea which rolls they were or what any of the song titles
are. My guess is that the rolls came from Ray Siou or Play-Rite, but
I can't say for sure.
The recording was made with four microphones, a four channel mixer
and a semi-professional reel-to-reel tape deck. It was mixed down to
stereo, and sounds very good in spite of the small room it was located
in. This recording is worthy of being played loud, to simulate the ear
piercing volume of the original instrument. I have now digitized the
original master and made CDs of each music roll. The music all sounds
like it's from the early 1900s, and contains marches, waltzes,
a fox-trot or two and many other lively tunes.
If anyone would be interested in hearing all 30 tunes played on this
unique machine, I'd be glad to make a limited set of three CDs available
to all list members for $10 to all US addresses, with $5 from each set
going toward a donation to this Digest. For an extra $2, I'll throw in
a bonus CD with 25 tunes from the 3-CD set. This is nice to have if
you don't have a CD changer and want to listen to almost 80 minutes of
uninterrupted music.
I'll take PayPal, or any kind of check, and will make a $5 donation
from each sale to MMD in your name, if you would like. I would also
be grateful to anyone who could identify the rolls or the songs they
contain.
Best Regards from Texas,

PS: This effort is dedicated to Noble Stidham, the master craftsman
who built this wonderful band organ from scratch. The world of musical
antiques lost a national treasure when Noble passed away last year.
I think he would be very pleased to share the music with other
like-minded people.
[ Your offer is very kind, Tony. MMDigest and Foxtail Group will
[ greatly appreciate the contributions. :-) -- Robbie
