Me, too.  I bought one in 1977 and it is still working in my build-up.
The only thing I did was get rid of the elastic band drive and
substitute a chain drive.  Yes, the Perflex pouches failed.  They did
get suckered into using them as we all did; not their fault.  Their
stuff was well built, and the frame was built like a tank.
