Hello Everyone. The new book, "Orchestrien aus dem Schwarzwald",
by Herbert Juettemann, is only available in German at present and,
as far as I know, there are no plans to publish in English. Perhaps
we could talk Andrew Pilmer into taking it on as he did with the
great book, "Waldkirch Street and Fairground Organs," also by Herbert
Juettemann. If you don't own this book then get it real quick. I am
the one who suggested to Sabine Schnieder to send a little article
to the MMD.
I use a German to English translator which works fairly well for all
the German books, though you will have to insert words which are not
in the translator dictionary (that are used in the mechanical music
world), but the effort is well worth the results to finally be able to
"read" some of the best books in the world in mechanical music but are
only available in German. Also you should consider joining the GSM
(Gesellschaft fuer Selbstspielende Musikinstrumente); contact Ralph
Smolne (President) at the web site http://www.musica-mechanica.de/
They produce wonderful publications with material you have never seen
before on all types of automated musical instruments.
Best to all
